Writing samples

Chargent

As a staff writer for Chargent, I worked with their editorial team to identify article topics and ideas and then write blog posts for each of the topics. The editorial team has a busy editorial calendar, with videos, social media posts, and blog posts. I needed to write to the deadline each time so they could post on schedule. The client was very impressed with the performance of the content, as they monitor analytics very carefully.

SubStack – Reading is a skill

Reading feels effortless – until we try to understand how it actually happens. What turns symbols on a page into knowledge in our minds? And if reading is a skill, how can we improve it?

Technical writing (AI)

Bria / Counterpath

The following are writing samples from previous client work. The samples were provided as content for blog posts that were lightly edited by the editorial team at the client site. Voice and tone guides were provided along with regular feedback from the client. The content was written with Search Engine Optimization in mind and had specific keywords and terms that were supplied as part of the background information.

Each month I would provide a list of 5-10 page titles and the first sentence or two for potential blog posts to the client. They would either approve the whole list, make some suggestions to the post topics, or remove anything they thought was not a great fit. These topics were driven by SEO research we had done on competitors and were intended to move the client up the search rankings as the content got traction with search engines.

Some posts were intended to be short and focused on quick attention to connect with managers in companies, some were intended to be longer and use highly technical language to connect with executives and decision-makers. The content length, word choice, and complexity changed across samples as the audiences were different for various content pieces.
